Ronald’s experience: The worst part of the whole thing was worrying about it

I got there on time (early) and had to wait in the waiting room for over an hour. I had forgotten that this is a standard procedure for a doctor visit. When they called me in, the doctor described the procedure and gave me a rundown on aftercare. He also checked me out to make sure I was normal – he felt my balls and felt the scrotum for the tubes. Everything checked out OK.

The doctor took off and a nurse (she was cute too, but I was too nervous to worry about getting a hard on) came in. I had shaved that morning, but apparently it wasn’t satisfactory. The nurse finished that job. She prepped me for surgery – cleaned with betadine and covered me up except for what they were working on. She also brought in a radio and asked what channel I wanted it on. The doc came in and gave me a local anesthetic. The needle did hurt and the anesthetic burned, but this did not last too long before everything started numbing up.

The doc and the nurse did the procedure, making conversation with me during most of it. From shot to finish, it was about 10-15 minutes. I got dressed and left immediately afterward. I go back in a week just for a follow-up check-up. I am supposed to take them a “sample” in about six weeks to check for viable sperm.

Random Thoughts

They told me to wear a jockstrap afterward. I did for the rest of that day but decided that the squeezing was causing pain, so I took it off. No problems. The ice packs keep everything drawn up anyway so “bouncing around” was not a problem.

They gave me a pain medicine prescription and said I could get it if I needed it. I did not need it or get it. Tylenol and beer are sufficient.

Ice, Ice, Ice. Helps the pain and keeps any swelling down. Doctor said it constricts the blood vessels and prevents internal bleeding. I had bought two bags of frozen vegetables, thinking I’d use one while the other froze/refroze. I’d recommend more than two bags as they tend to thaw more quickly than anticipated.

One thing that I had not thought of was this: It hurts to “shake” after urinating.

It’s now been three days. I’m doing fine, but won’t be running any marathons anytime soon. Still sore. Not supposed to lift anything heavy for two weeks. The worst part of the whole thing was worrying about it.
