Vasectomy photographs

I need your help!! Over the years I've had many requests to show pictures of what is (and isn't) considered normal bruising and swelling after vasectomy - that's why I started this page. I've recently had some feedback on the page that says "It's great to see the worst case scenario, but what about "Normal" vasectomy"? As you will see, there are a few photo's of what isn't considered normal, but very few pictures of what is considered normal. So if you are about to have a vasectomy, please consider contributing to this page.

What I'm looking for are pictures of normal vasectomy. So you have had a vasectomy, and all you can see are a couple of marks and a slight bruise - that's what I'm looking for! Just a little bit of swelling? Maybe no bruising or swelling - just incisions? That's what I'm looking for too! You may well think that photo's you take may not spectacular enough, but those are precisely the sort of pictures I'm looking for. It's important to show the worst case, and it's equally important, or MORE important to show what happens in most cases.

Please have a look at the photographers tips below. All submissions are in total confidence, will be posted with complete anonymity and will only be shown in a clinical context. Please email the webmaster for more information, or to send in your pictures. Thank you!

The photo's we have to date are as follows:-

Bilateral vasectomy

The photo's on this page were submitted by Dr. Karpman, with the permission of one of his patients. It shows Dr Karpman's No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) Technique using two incisions immediately post procedure, and follows the healing over the next few days.

Midline vasectomy days 1 and 4

The photo's on this page were submitted by one of our site visitors of his vasectomy with one midline incision. Two photo's - day 1 and day 4.

Pictures of extreme bruising and swelling after a vasectomy

This set of pictures was added late December 2007, and they show the bruising and swelling associated with a post vasectomy hematoma. The series of pictures starts at day 2, and continues through to day 17.

Pictures of extreme bruising and swelling after vasectomy with a hematoma complication

This set of pictures was added January 23, 2008 and like the above set, they show bruising and swelling after a vasectomy associated with hematoma. I have updated this page with 4 more pictures taken on day 6 and day 11 as the recovery progresses.

Pictures of hematoma and swelling after a vasovasostomy

These pictures were added January 29, 2008 and they show unusual bruising and swelling after a vasovasostomy (vasectomy reversal). These pictures were sent in to our Ask the Doctor section to illustrate the problem one of our contributors had following his vasovasostomy.

Pictures of bruising on penis after vasectomy - day 3

The photograph on this page was submitted with a question to our Ask the Doctor section, and was taken on day 3 after the vasectomy.

Post vasectomy scars

This page has photographs contributed by two of our site visitors. The page shows what bilateral and midline incision scars look like at 10 and 7 years post vasectomy.

Many thanks to our contributors for submitting their pictures and allowing us to use them. If you are having a vasectomy, please consider the idea of taking some pictures during your recovery for us to post, as we feel that it will help men know what is, and isn't normal. We aren't looking for just extreme bruising and swelling picture as shown on some pages, but also pictures of straightforward vasectomy with normal recovery. Complete anonymity is guaranteed, and for the purposes of taste and decency, photo's will be edited to be shown in a clinical context. If you are happy to participate, please email the webmaster in confidence.

camera iconPhotographers tips. The purpose of the page is to show scars, bruising and swelling in a clinical context, therefore we will need to crop any photo's prior to inclusion to show only what is necessary. Because we will probably need to crop pictures, we need the highest quality images in the first instance. The following tips may help.
