I am confused about who the father of my child is and I’m dying to find out. He is not born yet so I can’t do the paternity test. So let me explain the situation, maybe you can help me.

I had a menstrual period on March 18-23 2007. I had sexual intercourse with Man A on March 27, 2007. I felt my ovulation starting on April 3, 2007 (temperature rise, bloated) I had sex that April 3, 2007 at 12:00 noon with Man B. I’m very confused on who the father of this child could be. Do you think you would have any clue at all? Please help me. Thank you.

    Dr. Edward Karpman

Human sperm can survive for up to 10 days in the female reproductive tract. If a woman has her first day of menses on March 18th, this represents the first day of her new cycle. If the presumed day of ovulation is 16 days after the start of the cycle, then any intercourse that occurred up to 10 days prior to the date of ovulation could result in a pregnancy. Both sexual encounters occurred during the “fertile” window and it would be hard to differentiate which man is the father of the baby at this point. The earliest a paternity test could be done would be at the time of an amniocentesis which normally occurs no sooner than 16 weeks of gestation.
