My husband recently had a vasectomy. There were no side effects, besides what is normally expected such as swelling and bruising.

However, about six months later he was diagnosed with severe depression disorders. We are wondering if this could be a result of the procedure. I can’t find any information about depression being related to a vasectomy, so we are hoping you can help!

There is no reputable literature that I am aware of that relates depression to the vasectomy procedure.

Depression is a very common problem in our society. Care should be taken to see a mental health professional who can sort out other possible causes of the depression. Depression can be a serious condition if not appropriately diagnosed and treated. There are many effective therapies available for this condition.
