Six days ago I had a double hernia repaired and a vasectomy done at the same time. I know that there will be swelling and bruising but the testicles are a dark red and almost purple. Is this common and if so how long can it last?
Bruising after any surgical procedure can last for 1-2 weeks. When multiple surgeries are performed simultaneously this can compound the degree of bruising and swelling. Six days after surgery is a reasonable time to still notice some bruising. However, if the bruising is associated with significant swelling or pain, then this may represent another problem. It is always recommended to have the surgical site evaluated by your surgeon if there is any suspected problems.
