Will metal clips set off airport metal detectors?

From Josh:-
I had my initial visit with my local urologist today for a vasectomy. He said he would cauterize as well as put on metal clips. His preference was a combination of the two. How do you feel about metal clips? Is this common and safe? And on a lighter note will these metal clips set off a metal detector in an airport???

I really appreciate your input.

Vasectomy surgeons will oftentimes employ multiple techniques to ensure a successful vasectomy. This includes removing a part of the vas deferens, cauterizing the ends, ligating the ends, placing titanium clips, fascial interposition or folding over the end of the vas deferens. Metal clips have been replaced by titanium clips because of the decreased reactivity of the clips as compared to metal. Oftentimes, surgeons will refer to the titanium clips as “metal clips” when in reality they are using titanium clips. Titanium clips are safe, effective and will NOT set off any metal detectors at the airport.
