Getting pregnant many years after vasectomy / routine testing questions
Nov 23rd 2007adminPost vasectomy semen analysis & Pregnant after vasectomy
From Kishalay:-
I’m 54 years old and I had vasectomy about 15 years or so ago, and I always tested negative after that. I had several testing over the years and always came negetive. The last test I had about 4 years ago and I came negative again, and now I want to know if I need any further testing in order to confirm that I’m not positive anymore. I’m always skepticle about this fact that test results might come positive again which I don’t want!
From Cathy:-
My husband had a vasectomy 16 years ago. Have you ever heard of any cases where a woman got pregant after this long amount of time without the reversal operation?
Rest assured that after 15 years and multiple negative semen analyses that this represents a durable and reliable form of contraception. I do not believe that there are any cases of pregnancy reported in the literature or in any physician’s experience in similar types of situations.

I got pregnant and my boyfriend still tests negative. Now he is in disbelief that it is his. Is there anyone out there that has a similar situation?

Absolutely this can happen. A friend of mine had this happen to her. She swears the guy had a vasectomy and the guy does not know the kid is his even though he visits frequently. He had a vasectomy many years ago for his first wife. As far as I know he has not mentioned her pregnancy and she has not told him the kid is his. She is paranoid he might claim parental rights and demand to have the kid at his house. So it can happen. But I think it must be extremely rare.
