Can I sue my partner because she’s left me after vasectomy?

From Darren:-
I have been with my partner for the past 3-4 yrs. We had two children together, and then we both decided for me to have a vasectomy. I cancelled the first appointment doubting myself and my partners decision and giving me another 6 months to go over this issue with my partner and make sure she was happy for me to go ahead for the op.

The night before my op I asked my partner again if i was doing the right thing and she agreed with me and the next day I had the op done. The day after the op she told me that she wanted more children and ended the relationship, leaving me in a devastated state and angry for let me go through with the op knowing I would spend the rest of my life with this woman.

Do I have grounds to seek a case against my ex partner for damages or something to that affect? If so how would I seek infomation on this situation.

The legal aspects surrounding this case are beyond the scope of my expertise. Perhaps, a referral to the Citizen’s Advice Bureau would be helpful to understand any legal grounds one might have in this situation. From a medical standpoint, reversing a vasectomy that has only recently been performed is almost universally successful if done appropriately by an experienced microsurgeon. A man’s fertility potential can be easily restored with a vasectomy reversal, which would be an unpleasant surprise to the partner. Regardless of the legal or medical ramifications of this situation, marriage counselling would be an ideal treatment to better understand the basis of these actions and uncover any relationship problems involved.
