The following all have some mention of sporting activity. All stories are on other sections.
| Anjaan Added April 20, 2001 Updated July 2, 2005 |
"Tied @ last : The story of my freedom from fertility...." is how Anjaan titles his story. The update is dated July 2005. He wanted to let us know that he's still happy with his vasectomy, and that it's had no effect on his active lifestyle - he's a marathon runner. |

"I chose the Vasclip because psychologically I liked the idea of "very" minimally invasive although to be honest I doubt there is much difference. It seemed to help me get over the hurdle a little bit to go over this route. Overall, I am very pleased with the approach." |
| Biker Added September 24, 2005 Updated October 2, 2005 |
Biker's
story details his thoughts and fears the day before his
vasectomy, and he talks about how the procedure itself
went. "The reality of what was going to take place didn't really sink in until yesterday morning, after I shaved. I actually did start to get nervous. Now my vasectomy is done, and so far I'm feeling fine. Afterwards, he showed me the little bits he'd removed -- longer than I'd expected, maybe one inch. He said I should not bike or run for at least a week, and after that I could do it if it felt okay. I then walked gingerly out to my wife in the waiting room. She was pleasantly surprised that I could walk, she thought I might need a wheelchair or something! We got into the car, I immediately stuck a pack of frozen peas down my shorts, and we went home." |

One month post procedure. "All-in-all, this wasn't too bad but I'm glad to only have to do this once. 1st week was the toughest and then no problem. Day 8 was when I didn't have the dull ache anymore and everything was back to normal for me. At week 2, I was back at the gym doing my normal workout." |

"I'm 27 no kids, I never wanted any. I'd done a ton of research on NSV, opened ended, scalpel, etc. Literally spent hours of company time researching this stuff and felt very informed. I was very nervous the urologist would say no because I wasn't married and didn't have kids. He was very cool about the whole thing. I told him I'd researched this a ton, knew this was minimally reversible and to be considered a permanent procedure. He agreed to do it. He did listen and didn't dismiss any of my concerns. I made the appointment to get it done less than a week later. I got off work in the morning (I'm a fireman). Sat around the station and joked with the oncoming crew (who over half had had the procedure themselves). There are two things out of my control that were unpleasant - one is the nervous buildup of having it done, and the other is not being able to exercise much. I'm a Triathlete and marathon runner so exercise to me is like a lifestyle." |
| Jose Added July 2, 2005 Updated September 7, 2005 |
Billed as "Mexican Vasectomy Experience". Jose says "Here in Mexico we have periodical 'Vasectomies Governmental Programs-NSV' due the population control in Mexico. I Had my vasectomy performed yesterday. I decided to do this about 15 days ago when I heard an advice at the local radio news." The update charts the time between the vasectomy and getting the "All clear". |
| Matt Added March 5, 2000 |
Matt comes from Australia. His story has a wealth of useful information, including information for sportsmen. |
| Nick Added August 6, 2005 |
Straightfoward story from the UK with some good practical advice:- "One thing I haven't read in any of the other stories here - try and have a crap before your operation and don't eat too much, because afterwards sitting on the toilet is the last thing you feel like doing! I found sitting on the seat without any support to my balls quite uncomfortable - by the next day though it was fine. So avoid celebrating after the operation with a curry!" Nick cycles to work, and is hoping to start again very soon. Hopefully we will gert an update on this. |
| Pablo Added April 7, 2002 Updated May 7, 2003 Updated March 5, 2005 |
"The thought process and story surrounding the vasectomy is often far more eventful and intense than the procedure itself. It takes some powerful reasons to have us men consider someone cut around our balls. If you're considering it, the physical part shouldn't be a concern. It's all just very dull and remote discomfort that might be more psychological than physical." The first update is how he feels one year later, and the second update is three years post vasectomy. |
| Richard #4 Added March 5, 2005 Updated March 19, 2005 |
"I'm an avid mountain biker and the procedure had to be performed in the off-season to not affect my riding. Actually it's funny in reading a number personal experiences a lot of men are concerned about having sex again and my number one concern was getting back on the bike (yes I am addicted to the sport). The one piece of advice I can give anyone is to be patient and to rest. I think I jumped the gun the first weekend and set myself back. I also probably rushed get back onto my bike and into my workout routine, but that's me." |
| Sam Added April 28, 2003 Updated May 29, 2003 |
Sam is a keen on keeping himself in shape, and his story discusses the procedure, his recovery and how he got back into his fitness regime. "The fear and pain is all psychological. I think the best part is that I feel no different, and my mother-in-law has no clue I had this done. She was on a cruise when it happened, so I just laugh to myself when she asks when I am having the surgery. I might keep her in the dark for a few years." |

UK vasectomy story, written on the day. "Friday night (the night before) I didn't sleep at all, I was very nervous, telling the lads at the gym didn't help me either. I suppose I was after a bit of sympathy. HA! no chance, I'll tell you now, some of the stories would make best sellers." |
| SnorkleMaster Added March 21, 2002 |
No - I don't know why he calls himself that either!! Anyway, snorkle (AKA Gary) is in the UK, and had it done under a GA. He says:- "I will be going back to work after a week off and have been doing some Tai Chi. I will be back to running and doing very vigorous sport in a fortnight. So then guys I really don't know what all the fuss is about." |
