My vasectomy story

My wife and I married in 1994. In 1997 we were blessed with our first child, a daughter. Unfortunately she was born with a genetic condition called Cranio Fronto Nasal Dysplasia, where, amongst other things, the bones in her skull fused too early during the pregnancy and she was born with quite unusual facial features like wide set eyes, a drooping brow and broad nose. So far she has had four (quite successful) operations and shall have more as she matures. She looks so much better! In our house surgeons are miracle workers!!!

In 1997 my wife fell pregnant again. Many people thought we were crazy having another one as the surgeons had told us there was a very high chance of it happening again, especially if it's a girl (the condition doesn't seem to affect boys)! We decided to find out the sex at one of the ultrasound visits and were quite relieved to discover this one was a boy!! He was born absolutely perfect!!! Right then we decided that two kids were enough as we didn't want to have to go through all that worry again.

My wife went back on the pill after our son's birth and a couple of years ago she had an iud inserted. She started to find that the pill was effecting her periods and making them very eratic! That is why she suggested I get a vas.

I suppose I was being a bit harsh by saying she was pressuring me. After thinking about our situation, I can see where she is coming from and that is that she feels she is taking the bulk of the responsibility for keeping our family at it's limit. I haven't told her yet that I joined this group because I want to surprise her with my final decision to go ahead once I've discussed it with the best people to dicuss it with - people like you guys! She walked into the room one night when I had this group open and when I quickly shut it down she wanted to know what I was doing. I said "maybe it's a surprise"! I think she thinks I'm organising a Christmas present for her, which I suppose, in a way, it is!

That's enough rambling! Thanks again guys for your support and I'll keep you updated as to the progress of my situation.
