After our fourth child was born in 1957, we made the decision to go for the snip. I was sore for a few days, but we engaged in sex with contraceptives after about a week, and continued that way until I cleared the six-week test of no sperm in the semen. Since then, we have enjoyed the freedom of worry-free sex au naturale. It's great to be spontaneous and sure!
A young friend just had a vasectomy after their fourth child, and my reassurances were very valuable to him.
I just had my 70th birthday in October, and we have never been sorry that we decided on a vasectomy. Of course, the love of my life is 68 (she'll be 69 on Saturday), and the vasectomy hasn't been an important consideration for many years.
By the way, the urologist gave me a button to wear which I have never worn and I don't really know what happened to it. It said, "IOSB"--I only shoot blanks!
