Greenfeather is a 6'5" Blackfoot Indian, and childfree. His story is about the procedure and the weeks that followed, including his declining sperm count on a daily basis! He concludes:- "I'm happy as hell with the way the procedure went and would do it again tomorrow. It's the best thing that I've ever done for our relationship. I'm back to 100% at 3 weeks post op and any sexual position is no problem." The first update is six months post vasectomy, and the second is 6 years after the vasectomy.

"I had a vasectomy between two & two & a half years ago. About ten days after the surgery I resumed having sex and was surprised to find a very reduced sense of pleasure during orgasm. The best way to describe the feeling would be to say that the sensation within the testicles was far less pleasurable, especially near the end of the orgasm, followed by a slightly uncomfortable feeling of what seemed like the testicle contracting. I just wrote this off as the first time after the surgery & thought it would be back to normal the next time. Unfortunately it didn't go back to normal."

There are two updates to the story, one 9 months after the story was originally posted, and one two years after that. The updates follow Keith's struggle to get the medical profession to accept the cause of the problem, and the decisions on what the best treatment approach is.

"The idea of vasectomy had been kicking around in my head for some time, about as long as could remember, probably as long as I had known about the procedure. Not wanting children and hearing horror stories of accidental pregnancies and not trusting my wife (or anyone else for that matter) with birth control, I had always wanted it done. However, I had this sort of defeatist attitude towards it, with images in my head of a kindly old doctor telling me to 'come back when you're 40.' One day it had dawned on me that now married and soon to turn 30, I was near an ideal candidate, or at least someone who could make a good argument for wanting one."

Andy had his vasectomy done at a Marie Stopes clinic in London. Andy's story mainly documents his recovery - which was longer than a couple of days. He found this site whils recovering and says:- "I wish I'd found this site before the op. The problem with many web accounts is that they're self selected by men who've had a nightmare. It was great to read accounts with a different perspective. Also the official line seems to be that either you have a serious complication or you should be back to work within a couple of days. No grey areas. It was great to read about guys whose experience was basically OK but had strange aches and swellings like me."

"I've been bothered with chronic epididymitis most of my adult life, with pain ranging from barely noticeable to flat on my back in ER wanting to rip out the offending part with a spoon. Needless to say, performance was an issue during these times and condoms were certainly of no assistance. The thought of an unplanned pregnancy was always lurking in the back of my mind-which was also of no assistance in the performance department. So, what other option does a guy have but to entrust his most precious possessions to a (hopefully) skilled professional for alteration."

However, Tim is childfree. Coupling the epidiymitis with the childfree status meant that his doctor wasn't so keen....

After deciding it just wasn't in God's plans for us to have children we stopped trying. Within a couple of weeks my wife was pregnant with our son. When my mom passed away and me being an only child I didn't want my son to have to go through that experience and we decided to try for a second child. The very first try my wife was pregnant with our daughter. That led me to consider the vasectomy since I am now older and facing several health issues. We just felt we were extremely blessed and didn't want to risk another pregnancy later on in life."

Australian childfree vasectomy story. "I came out of a long relationship with an infertile woman, and I still have no desire to have children. At 39 I still look early 30's and have some interest from some younger, and my guess fertile women. Before enjoying my status of born again virgin, my biggest fear is the impact of getting someone pregnant; it happens even with contraception. I'm now a member of the infertile club. Although I didn't need it immediately, it was good to have it done. For me it helps as a communication tool. I say to a woman "I've had a vasectomy" they respond "You can have it reversed"; I say "No chance". We have a clear understanding, which is different to "I don't want to have children", where the woman still sees you as having the juice, but not willing to share it for procreation. It eliminates a certain section of prospective partners, but makes things more honest. I practice safe sex anyway, but if there is some stupid drunken activity, I know there will be no surprises later."

Added August 22, 2007

"I had a vasectomy about 11 years ago after the birth of our fourth child. I saw this as my duty given my wife had delivered our children and took responsibility for contraception up until that time. Overall I considered the procedure to be very successful but admit that I did regret the fact that I could never father another child. I shed a tear on my drive back home from the procedure but always thought this was the right thing to do. I'v suffered from various symptoms since my vasectomy and I have now decided to take the approach of returning things back to normal in an attempt to hopefully rectify these issues - regardless of whether they are physical or mental. I have booked in for a vasectomy reversal next month and shall keep you posted on it's effect."

I haven't had any problems and I want others to know that it can be absolutely fine. I don't view myself as one of the lucky ones because we are in the majority. "To summarize my story, my vasectomy in March, 2005, has resulted in severe scrotal and inguinal pain has impacted every aspect of my life: the constant pain has hindered me in my role as an active and happy father, hampered my job performance, limited my exercise and leisure activities, and virtually eliminated sexual activities with my wife of 16 years, just to name a few effects. I took a major step yesterday by undergoing a vasovasectomy (reversal). Here's how it all began:"

Many people thought we were crazy having another one as the surgeons had told us there was a very high chance of it happening again, especially if it's a girl (the condition doesn't seem to affect boys)! We decided to find out the sex, and were quite relieved to discover this one was a boy!! He was born absolutely perfect. "I'm 27 no kids, I never wanted any. I'd done a ton of research on NSV, opened ended, scalpel, etc. Literally spent hours of company time researching this stuff and felt very informed. I was very nervous the urologist would say no because I wasn't married and didn't have kids. He was very cool about the whole thing. I told him I'd researched this a ton, knew this was minimally reversible and to be considered a permanent procedure. He agreed to do it. He did listen and didn't dismiss any of my concerns. I made the appointment to get it done less than a week later. I got off work in the morning (I'm a fireman). Sat around the station and joked with the oncoming crew (who over half had had the procedure themselves). There are two things out of my control that were unpleasant - one is the nervous buildup of having it done, and the other is not being able to exercise much. I'm a Triathlete and marathon runner so exercise to me is like a lifestyle."

It wasn't nearly as bad of a procedure as I had built up in my mind - stirrups, scalpels, cute nurses all standing around looking at me in all my glory was what I was certain I was in for. Detailed story about the reasons for vasectomy and how the procedure went. "Several times over the last 11 years my wife suggested a vasectomy, to which I told her to go take a long walk off a short pier. I eventually came to the decision to have a vasectomy on my own. I am going to be 39 years old this June and during my wife's last OB-GYN visit she was told that having another child would be dangerous for her. I always felt cheated that I didn't have a Dad who was able to be my coach or be an active father - he was physically unable to do the things that some of the younger dads could do. So my age was also a factor in my decision. I did not want to be an old Dad. I wanted to have it done and be healed up in time to coach my son's baseball team this spring, so I made my appointment for January 6, 2006."

Vasclip failure story. "In October 2004 I had an elective sterilization performed using the VasClip device. In April my doctor declared me sterile based on a single negative test result. My wife missed her period in November. This isn't all that uncommon, so we decided to wait and monitor the situation. When her period didn't show up in December, we bought a pregnancy test and it was positive. I am upset that the procedure didn't work - especially since I chose this method due to faster anticipated recovery time (versus a vasectomy with cauterization) and expected success."

"The reality of what was going to take place didn't really sink in until yesterday morning, after I shaved. I actually did start to get nervous. Now my vasectomy is done, and so far I'm feeling fine. Afterwards, he showed me the little bits he'd removed -- longer than I'd expected, maybe one inch. He said I should not bike or run for at least a week, and after that I could do it if it felt okay. I then walked gingerly out to my wife in the waiting room. She was pleasantly surprised that I could walk, she thought I might need a wheelchair or something! We got into the car, I immediately stuck a pack of frozen peas down my shorts, and we went home."

"31 days to go". Richard had a varicocele and aches and pains in the testicles/groin area. He had to decide if he was to have a vasectomy or not. His story is in the form of a diary and concentrates on the decision, the build up to his scheduled date. Will he or won't he??? Well, he did eventually, and the updates he has added since deal with the "all clear" and a post op granuloma several months afterwards.

Richard updates his story three years after his vasectomy. "The freedom from worry has been truly liberating for both of us and has contributed to a better sex life....we're closer then ever, we're exploring each other's fantasies, and we're doing it more often-wherever, whenever we can. I've even had my penis pierced and now sport a very sexy Prince Albert (Sorry if that makes you guys who are recovering from surgery a bit squeamish). So as I approach the 3rd anniversary of my vasectomy I am a "Happy Camper" as they say...better sex, more sex, no worries...I couldn't have asked for more!"

Richard has since sent in pictures of his Prince Albert piercing, and they are included at the bottom of the story.

In addition, it took 6 months and 4 samples to get the all clear. He concludes "Vasectomy is a personal decision that you have to make and be prepare to deal with any undesirable consequences. Actually it's funny in reading a number personal experiences a lot of men are concerned about having sex again and my number one concern was getting back on the bike (yes I am addicted to the sport). The one piece of advice I can give anyone is to be patient and to rest. I think I jumped the gun the first weekend and set myself back. It takes some powerful reasons to have us men consider someone cut around our balls. If you're considering it, the physical part shouldn't be a concern. This story is very detailed, and spans 18 months from the consideration to a year after the procedure, and has several twists and turns to it.

The story starts:- "After due consideration, I hit the internet. What I discovered floored me. I had always heard that a vasectomy was a safe and simple procedure with little risk. We obtained copies of medical journal articles, reviews, and studies. I spent hours reading them, and searching further on the internet. I never found what I considered to be "good" answers. So, I had to weigh the risk in another fashion. I decided that the risk of complications, both medical and financial of a pregnancy out-weighed the possible risks to my health."

He concludes:- "I remain totally amazed at how well this has turned-out for me, as even under the best of circumstances I expected to experience some measure of discomfort, but there was absolutely none. To this day I remain 100-percent convinced that this was the correct decision for me to make. It is a decision that everyone has to make for himself - I will share my story, but I will not try to convince anyone to do as I have. I guess the fact that I don't even think about it any more tells you quite a bit. Never had any problems, never had any pain or other after effects. Other than a few "positives" on the tests, everything has gone exceeding well."

Medicines prescribed for a pinched shoulder nerve caused some swelling and bruising. Three weeks later and the positive has gone to a negative, and back to a positive again.

"Childfree vasectomy with a history of prior testicular pains" is the title. In 2002, Giraud concluded" Assuming I do not suffer future pain, this was a great decision. The sex seems as powerful as ever, and I'm sure once I am given the all-clear, the freedom will be great!"

The first update deals his thoughts about being sterile, and discusses aches and pains during since the procedure. In the second update things have moved on, and he has had an open ended conversion.

In the third update he says "I still consider myself in the "too soon to tell" category, so I don't want to try to draw conclusions, but what I have observed so far is that my left side seems in better shape (no real pain, and no pressure). I am back to wearing boxers, which are actually more comfortable (no pressure on the balls!). I biked 26 miles with my wife Sunday, and yeah, it was sore somewhat on the right side, but not too bad; just popped a couple of ibuprofens."

Plenty of useful, practical advice for anyone considering. After the procedure, Paul had ongoing discomfort. The updates deal with the discomfort, and it's medical treatment. In the final update 1 year 3 months later Paul says:- "Currently, I consider myself recovered. The left (troublesome) epididymis is more swollen than the right, and the level of swelling varies throughout the day from lump to a larger mass. But there is no pain unless I squeeze just the right spot (right up against the testicle), which is hard to accidentally. In fact, I've taken some shots from the toddler (changing diapers) and it feels good as new. Back to doing lawn work pain-free (that took about nine months, however) and basically all normal activities."

It doesn't matter how many kids you do or do not have. Explore her desires, her inner heart, and make absolutely certain she is not harboring a hidden desire for a child. In the same vein of thought, make sure she has matured in your sexual relationship to the point that love making is done for the mutual pleasure of both of you, not in a secret hope that it may result in a pregnancy."

Art developed a couple of extra "balls" during the recovery, but they went within two months. "I am very confident that this will be one of the best investments I've made. So far, I am extremely happy with having a vas. No more kids, no more condoms, no more pills, and spontaneity!" says Art.

Added June 6, 2002

"Overall, the result of the procedure is exactly what we wanted: freedom and no worry about more kids. Although it was a little painful to me (I am a wimp when it comes to pain), I am sure it pales in comparison to what my wife went through to bear 2 children. We're both very happy."

Mark #2
Added March 29, 2002

Mark has a slightly complex life, and had his vasectomy just prior to the birth of one of his children. "For the past 9 months I've been dreading the moment of my vasectomy. I cant imagine anyone more squeamish than me, (although some of the posts in this web site come pretty close), but anxiety aside, I knew this was something I must do for my own piece of mind. The baby was about to fall out on any given day, and I wanted to be 100% done with this mess and worry free by the time it was born, so I made the appointment for Friday March 22nd 2002......"

MB
Added March 29, 2002

Added March 21, 2002

No - I don't know why he calls himself that either!! Anyway, snorkle (AKA Gary) is in the UK, and had it done under a GA. He says:- "I will be going back to work after a week off and have been doing some Tai Chi. I will be back to running and doing very vigorous sport in a fortnight. So then guys I really don't know what all the fuss is about."

Watelifta
Added February 3, 2002

"I had my vasectomy last night at 6:30 pm. I Know at least 5 other guys who had the procedure. All of whom said it was a painless no big thing. I of course was nervous all day, 6:30 in the evening was a long wait.... Home we went, hung out with the kids. I was waiting for the pain to set in, it never did though. This morning went just as well, no pain, no medication, nothing. I had my first erection which felt kinda weird. I will admit, seeing my girl in her gym attire got me excited enough to temporarily forget about my vasectomy, but I will wait at least a few days."

Bruce #2
Added December 22, 2001

Bruce is from Canada. Before his vasectomy he said that "I almost talked myself out of it. But I decided that the risks were not that great". Afterwards he said "The worst part was the dread and worry I put myself through. I think to say it was "painful" is an overstatement. It was mostly uncomfortable."

Paul #3
Added December 8, 2001
Updated Dec. 21, 2001

Paul had a severe haematoma, and this necessitated emergency surgery. In the update, Paul said:- "When I went in this morning to get the dressings changed, it was infected. So the GP put me on a course of Augmentin 500mg. Well, at least Christmas doesn't look as grim as I 1st thought 'cos at least you can drink on the stuff :) On a brighter note there's no internal pain (which *would* worry me) & I'm sure, over time, the swelling will go down (still a pretty big hard lump in there, but it's much smaller than it was)...". He also talks about vasectomy politics.

Vasectomy at 21. He concludes:- "Finally, even though I thought about the vasectomy for two years, I was still a little worried that I might experience what I guess might be thought of as the opposite of postpartum depression after it was *actually* done. Boy was I wrong. No sperm, no worry, and no regrets whatsoever."

Updated Oct 23, 2001

"Is three vasectomies on one man the world record?" is the title of Christopher's story. Pat
Added September 4, 2001

"My advice to those have scheduled the operation is to not let your fear overcome what is a very responsible, respected and admirable procedure. There are a lot of guys who "talk the talk" when it comes to planned parenthood, and I'm glad I'm one of those who also "Walked the walk." Remember Yoda: "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to pain. Pain leads to suffering." Keep a positive attitude, focus on the big picture and remember you're not alone."

Scott #2
Added August 25, 2001

"The injections were probably the most uncomfortable part. They are a lot like a dentist's injections, however the pressure buildup as the fluid is injected was VERY uncomfortable. It was weird to watch him wrap the silk, with these big arm movements. Just seemed out of place somehow, give the "delicacy" of the procedure"

Tom
Added July 15, 2001

In response to another newsgroup poster, who was extremely nervous one week before his vasectomy Tom said:- "If you've got the appointment made, that shows a good amount of resolve/willpower to start with. I bet you'll get through it fine. I went to see my regular doctor a month or three ago, for a physical and referral for vasectomy (kinda like buying four bags of potato chips along with your condoms, to cover them up at the store!). They decided it'd be fun to take a blood sample for routine testing, and I got faint and sweaty from the blood draw. Took a while to get cooled off enough to walk to my car and drive home...."

Richard #2
Added May 23, 2001

Richard calls his story "Think twice". He had his vasectomy just before his 28th birthday after years of contemplating the decision. Some time later he met a lady and became close..... "I plan on having a reversal performed on me as soon as I am able to afford it. You may think that a vasectomy is the right thing to do and for some it probably is but please think twice before going through with it."

Ken
Added May 21, 2001

"My advice is to all men. Get a vasectomy to make your lover or wife happy. We had ours in 1956. Our sex life is much better and both of us are sexier all the time. Any discomfort is well worth the future results."

Jonathan
Added May 15, 2001

This story is a little unusual on two counts. Firstly, Jonathan had a testicle removed for testicular cancer a few years before the vasectomy, and secondly it took four months and four samples before he was declared sterile.

Calvin
Added May 4, 2001

NSV story, written 2 weeks afterwards. "I have no regrets about having the procedure done. Although I'm sure I will feel strange when I'm told I'm sterile, this was a decision I made with my wife for our relationship and for her health."

Steve #3
Added May 1, 2001

"We have a four year-old boy, and though more children might have been nice, we were reluctant to try again. We are both getting close to 40 and my wife had some medical complications that made very pregnancy risky. After our son was born, my wife got quite ill. Luckily, she is fine now. We got lucky once and we are thankful for the son we have.... One of the things that did bother me about nearly all of these web pages with the information against vasectomy is that when you clicked on a link for more information it was almost always dead. Finally I tripped upon www.vasectomy-information.com. Finally! A web site that had some decent information. But best of all, it had the survey! And it had some answers that I was looking for!"

Vinny
Added April 19, 2001

"Getting a vasectomy is by no means a decision that should be made lightly, or on the spur of the moment. For those of you in the younger age bracket, make it clear to the doctor that you have thought it out, and that you are aware of the permanence of the decision. Not all doctors will do it for you, but if you are persistent enough, you will find one that will."

Rick
Added April 6, 2001

Rick titles his story "A breeze". he wrote it two weeks after his vasectomy. "Yesterday was funny as hell when I told my wife "I'm off to work, and by the way you need to drop off that specimen bottle on my night stand at the doctors office this morning". I think that was the most embarrassing part of the whole thing."

Charles
Added April 3, 2001

"Jeff's trip to Sunkist land" is the title - a reference to "All juice and no seeds" I guess! In his own words:- "Like many of the other contributors to this page, I thought I'd share my experience so that any of you who are considering vasectomy might breathe a bit easier. If you're thinking of having a vasectomy, I hope this has helped you to see that it's not really such a big deal. Good luck!"

Added March 5, 2001

Added February 18, 2001

"Things that go SNIP in the night!" The story also has a link to Graham's own site about his family's move from England to Denver, Colorado. He concludes:- "Just for the record I would add to my story that I needed FIVE tests before being given the all clear, plus I'm sad to say I'm one of the "2%" that's suffered epidipimitus (if that's how you spell it!) regularly since the operation. Sometimes it's really uncomfortable for a few days at a time and I have to take Tylenol. I'm still glad I went through with it though."

Bskulli
Added February 17, 2001

Written 21 years after his vasectomy. After six years of marriage, a pregnancy scare polarised Bskulli into making the arrangements for a vasectomy. His story follows the decision, the procedure and his thought on what he would do if he had his time again...

Stuart
Added February 12, 2001

Stuart (from England) says his wife was more nervous than he was! "One thing I have noticed is the number of men who own up to having had, or are going to have, a vasectomy once it's mentioned. Mostly it's a taboo subject, after all you're getting you privates cut, but when the ice is broken then men seem to be happy to talk about it."

Richard
Added December 19, 2000

Richard wrote this story in part to balance what he felt was an imbalance of views at the newsgroup. "I made the right choice for myself and my wonderful marriage of 7 years. I would recommend this to anyone that is "serious" about birth control and making sex with your "wife" less stressful (after 4 month's)."

Ron
Added December 19, 2000

NSV vasectomy written a day or so later. "All in all, not bad. The worrying was much worse than the actual event. Again, the worst part for me was the nurse working on me - and that is due to my own idiosyncrasies."

Simon
Added December 19, 2000

UK vasectomy story, written on the day. "Friday night (the night before) I didn't sleep at all, I was very nervous, telling the lads at the gym didn't help me either. I suppose I was after a bit of sympathy. HA! no chance, I'll tell you now, some of the stories would make best sellers."

Redgie
Added October 14, 2000
Updated Dec. 10, 2000

Redgie had an open ended procedure, and calls it "The most incredible gift a man can give his wife - the gift of not worrying about getting pregnant. Thanks again for the time and effort you put in to make this such a great website. I think it is one of the best available. Despite there being so many out there, only you and the beavercleaver.net site had information that was helpful to me personally."

Terry
Added December 4, 2000

"The night before, around midnight, I woke up out of a sound sleep and had visions of a chain saw ripping out my balls! I laid in bed for another minute then ran downstairs and logged on to this web site. I really needed assurance that chain saws were no longer used! .... By this time my nuts were tucked up so tight you would need a crow bar to get to them. I started to have visions of this nurse making fun of my small penis and her going to lunch telling all her friends how tiny it was. By now my penis had shrunk to infantile size, this was really awful!"

John #2
Added December 1, 2000

For good measure this story has three titles! "A message to the ladies" or "It's a guy type thing" or "Just a Little Snip" My Ass!!! It was originally posted as a rant to a website, but the author felt it would fit right in here. John's wife also has her say.

Peter #2
Added December 1, 2000

"The procedure was somewhat intimidating. I am disappointed in myself for not "quizzing" my doctor as much as many of you on this site suggest. For anyone considering this procedure, take everyone's advice. If you have children, and you are satisfied with the number of kids you have, don't hesitate to do this, at least for your wife's sake."

Jeff
Added November 24, 2000

The first part is written 8 days after his vasectomy, when he had been diagnosed with an infection and had just started the antibiotics. Two days later he reported much improvement, and the only problem being "getting my wife in bed with 3 kids and long working days...you get the picture!"

Jim #3
Added November 24, 2000

"43 years on" is the title. "I just had my 70th birthday in October, and we have never been sorry that we decided on a vasectomy. Of course, the love of my life is 68 (she'll be 69 on Saturday), and the vasectomy hasn't been an important consideration for many years."

Pete
Added November 11, 2000

"I had heard from a couple good friends that they used the six pack remedy - buy two six packs and put them in the fridge. When you get back from the Doctors place one six pack on your groin. Then start drinking the other six pack. I thought to myself "I can handle this." I drank 11 of the beers on the first night. I was hung over the next day but my balls felt fine."

Steve #2
Added November 11, 2000

"This story (or article, or diary, or whatever you want to call it) chronicles my experiences with a vasectomy performed under a general. There are many debates with respect to whether or not a general is easier. For me I believe a general may have been the right choice."

Fern
Added October 28, 2000

"My wanting a reversal had nothing to do with wanting to have another child... I have 2 wonderful kids and that's all I want...I just could not continue being sterile... tried "living with it", ignoring it, acting like it never happened... none of it worked..."

John
Added October 28, 2000

"My personal story (or never bring your wife....)". John says he got his wife to watch:- "I figured I had watched her give birth to three children by caesarean and seen her uterus in a doctors hands, so this was the least she could do. This was to be my big mistake."

Mark
Added September 30, 2000

"So I made the appointment for the counseling session. I had planned to ask a number of careful, learned questions that would impress the doctor with my medical insight. Instead I ended up sweating through a good shirt I would end up having to wear all day and stammering into my shoes that "yes I was absolutely sure that this was the right decision for me". Not sure about anything at that point, I scheduled the procedure for a full three weeks later and settled down to a new life as a complete nervous wreck......."

Greg #3
Added September 25, 2000

Greg admits to being nervous (we all were Greg!!) It wasn't as bad as he was expecting, and he concludes "All in all it was a cake walk. My advice stop worrying, its not worth it."

Updated Sept. 25, 2000

New Yorkers NSV diary, started the day after his vasectomy. Kenny says:- "Although abstinence has been the way in our house, I would absolutely do it again if i was given the choice to go back in time. I had a cavity filled at the dentist last week. Vasectomy is not nearly as bad and is much quicker (and cheaper if you have insurance)".

Warren
Added September 16, 2000

Stephanie
Added April 8, 2000

"Last fall I found that I had developed high blood pressure and would not be able to use the pill. We tried condoms for about a month. I had forgotten how really bad they are. We had to find something better." She concludes:- "Donald said that the vasectomy went so well that he wished he had twenty years ago when I had the last boy. I feel that it made our life simpler and our love life better."

Gary
Added April 5, 2000

NSV story. Gary concludes "All in all, I would recommend the NSV - I would rather go through the whole process again, than go to the dentist. It was quick, painless, and no stitches (I went home with a band-aid).

Rodney
Added April 4, 2000

Written ten days later and titled "It's easier than you think guys". After a condom failure Rodney says:- "My primary reason for having a vasectomy was because I lost all faith in using condoms as a secure form of birth control and I wanted to make sure that I did not have a fourth child. I was dreading the possibility of two painful needles directly into the testicles and all of the pain that was supposed to follow. I am happy to report that the whole thing was a breeze."

Stephen
Added March 16, 2000

Stephen's story it titled "Why vasectomy is the right decision, and a titanium clips horror story". He concludes:- "After all that, I would still do it again. Procedurally, it's less inconvenient and uncomfortable than having your teeth cleaned. In fact, I would rather have a vasectomy than get a tooth filled. I can't believe I was so foolish not to have it done years ago when it would have meant something to my wife."

Tim
Added March 16, 2000

Tim had the NSV procedure. "Afterward, I experienced very minor discomfort that lasted about two hours. It wasn't a stabbing pain or even a very dull ache. It felt more like a little bit of pressure, but definitely bearable. 400mg of Motrin helped. It's recommended to stay off your feet for 24 hours, but after 4 hours on the couch, I felt fine. If you have any concerns about the pain, don't ignore them, deal with them. It is definitely not what you would think it is."

Dan
Added early 2000

Dan was nervous, and had an IBS attack just before the procedure was done. "Research, research, research! (But don’t believe everything you read). The Internet is a very valuable resource and I don't know where I'd be without it." says Dan.
