"Vasectomy experience - the good, the bad and
the ugly"
It's been 11 days since my conventional, dual incision snip job. Can't say it has been all that bad really, but certainly not as simple as some would have you believe! Procedure only took maybe ten minutes, which was quite amazing. Hell, it takes MUCH longer just to get a teeth cleaning. Left teste wasn't too bad, the tug on the vas got my attention, but it was over quickly. The right side, however, just about sent me through the ceiling.
For some reason, this one he had to tug, yank and prod to get it extricated, cut and cauterized. I swear he was trying to find Jimmy Hoffa somewhere around my upper larynx area. Got news for ya Doc, he ain't there! As a result, this one got much more inflamed (swollen and a wicked shade of black/blue) in the following days than the left side.
It seems that the less time spent thrashing about the testes, the better. I was pretty sore and needed a jock strap for eight days, then felt much better by day nine and today, I went flying (aerobatic pilot), with no pain or discomfort whatsoever. I started applying Neosporin to the sutures as I still had some slight bleeding from the incisions up until about day 7. This seemed to really help the healing. Great stuff. For pain management, the Doc prescribed some form of narcotic that even though I had acquired, I never used. I found that Advil, taken a few times a day, did the job.
I'm still not quite "done" with the procedure as I am still supposedly firing live rounds. But once the "all clear" is given, look out mama, Daddy's back!!
