My experience with Vasclip
Someone was looking for Vasclip experience. I previously had the procedure done. The procedure was pretty straightforward. My urologist had done many traditional vasectomies but I convinced him to allow me to be his first vasclip patient.
The exposure, prep, and drape was the same as for the traditional vasectomy. I was supine on the operating table. There was a complete shave of the testicular region. Lidocaine was infiltrated at the incision site. This hurt a small amount. The isolation of the vas was no big deal. The bovie cautery was used to take care of some of the microscopic bleeders at the skin edge. That did hurt a bit.
The clip going on did not hurt. Nor did the skin suture (an absorbable suture). I was advised not to immerse my testicles in water for a few days. I went back to work the next day. There was a bit of black and blue swelling for a few days. My urologist told me this was relatively mild.
The first ejaculation, 48 hours after the procedure, was moderately painful on one side. This did not persist, however, I did notice on a half dozen other occasions early one there was a slight ache on that side. That has now gone away.
4-5 days after the procedure, I noticed a slight amount of blood in the ejaculate. This did not persist.
I jogged 4-5 days after the procedure and resumed my usual physical activity.
I chose the Vasclip because psychologically I liked the idea of "very" minimally invasive although to be honest I doubt there is much difference. It seemed to help me get over the hurdle a little bit to go over this route.
Overall, I am very pleased with the approach. Happy to respond to any questions in this forum.
