On this page we hope to show pictures of what is, and isn't considered normal bruising and swelling after a vasectomy. I'd like to thank our first volunteer who wishes to be known as PJ for being the first brave volunteer to contribute to this page! PJ's pictures were shown to Dr. Karpman as part of our Ask the Doctor section, and pronounced normal.

If you have scheduled a vasectomy and would like to contribute to this section we'd be very pleased to hear from you! Just drop the webmaster an email. You anonymity is guaranteed. Nobody will be identified on this, or any other page of this site, and all emails are strictly confidential. As seen below, the intention of this page is to show pictures in a purely clinical context, so any pictures that are received will be trimmed to show just what's necessary.

Day 1. 3:30 pm Vasectomy Surgery, 4:30 pm - Home in bed with ice pack on genitals, took Tylenol with Codeine right away, then every 4 hours. Day 2. Stayed in bed all day with ice pack on and off (only up to go to bathroom). Took regular Tylenol every 4 hours or more. Noticed small bruise at base of penis right side. Took Tylenol with Codeine at bed time. Bruising spread a bit more. Day 3. Stayed in recliner all day with ice pack on and off. Less Tylenol. 11:00 am First post-surgery masturbation felt good, very little pain, normal volume. Went to meeting in evening (3 hours) then back home to ice pack > bed. 2:00 pm - Took first set of pictures.
